This book is beneficial to anyone who has children in their lives.

Written for professionals, I found it contains very useful information for motivated parents of older adopted children, particularly those with difficult memories of an earlier life with biological parents or at the orphanage. By definition, adopted kids all have trauma issues to work through at some point, and this text helped point me in the right direction as to what professional resources were needed. The book was a great help in identifying how past problems manifest themselves in current behaviors, some of which require professional help to work through -- and the sooner, the better. It includes a great introduction to use of a very effective and relatively new treatment used for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), called EMDR, in dealing with childhood trauma. My sons subsequently went through this very effective treatment with great results in a very short time. Highly recommended, even 10 years after printing.
